This week we’ve been turning lights on across south Wales in the name of workplace diversity.
Purple power took hold of the nation’s biggest landmarks on December 3rd to highlight the economic power of disabled people everywhere - with the Front Door crew on hand to film, tweet, write and generally shout about it in the media!
The Senedd, Cardiff Castle, Go Compare, the DVLA, Wales Millennium Centre, the University of South Wales and more joined the Purple Light Up initiative in Wales, where the proportion of disabled people in work is less than in the rest of the UK.
Julian John, Wales ambassador for the international campaign, took time to shine in a live interview with ITV Wales, wearing a matching purple suit and with a resplendent Cardiff Castle keep in the background.
TV crews also attended a special conference at the University of South Wales marking International Day of Persons With Disabilities, and heard from law lecturer Rob Wilks about his use of sign language as a deaf person working within his professional role.
Support from the Welsh business media also led to great coverage in Business News Wales, Welsh Business News, News From Wales and Wales247.co.uk, which also ran an amazing gallery of pictures showcasing the best of the evening itself.
We had a great time working on this campaign with the inspirational Julian and a wealth of partners who packed on a breathtaking purple PDA in the process. A busy few weeks for the Front Door team, with a great result for an even greater cause!
