Summer Ding Dong (or Wimble-Ding Dong?!)

Sorry if we’re stating the obvious here but, phew, what’s happening with 2021? How is it time for Wimbledon again? We can’t be the only ones wondering how we’re halfway through the year and getting the Pimms out again already?

In our defence, it’s been a proper busy one here at Front Door. We’ve welcomed a host of new clients on board since our last real update and some lovely new colleagues too. We’ve taken a few tentative steps back into our brand-new office and treated ourselves to a new office sofa to boot.

And in between moving boxes and screwing furniture together, we’ve had some pretty exciting client work going on too. Our work with UK comparison provider GoCompare has been a fresh adventure for the Front Door team this year and led us to flex our creative muscles in all kinds of ways.

Our new GoCompare TikTok account has seen its incomparable brand mascot Gio Compario sing, act silly and dance his way to well over a million views on a regular basis since it was introduced earlier this year. We’ve also been filling UK consumers in on what the best buys available are on the personal finance market every week and updating the national press on a host of related issues too.

We’ve also been racking up the column inches in the business, sector and regional press on behalf of leading recruitment company New Directions, who we also welcomed as client earlier this year. Working across the education, care and pharmaceutical sectors, we’ve been telling the human side of the New Directions story, including the inspiring tale of Andrew Watson.

Andrew’s experience watching the hardships of his friends and neighbours during the pandemic lead him to a career change and his journey from working as a courier to becoming a carer with New Directions went on to be told in the South Wales Guardian, South Wales Evening Post, Llanelli Star, Carmarthen Journal, Caring Industry News and more.

And career changes have also been taking place closer to home too, as we’ve welcomed two new faces to the Front Door team in 2021, in the form of our new PR and Digital Marketing Executive Hollie Tudor Smith, and Account Manager Rachel Mainwaring.

Hollie completed her degree at Swansea University and worked in marketing with some of Wales’ biggest brands, including our long-standing client Acorn Recruitment, before finding her way to Front Door. Rachel’s name may also feel familiar as it was a regular by-line in the Western Mail, and online with Media Wales, where she worked as a senior multimedia journalist before turning her hand to media consultancy and copywriting ahead of her time with us.

Like we said, it’s been a busy year so far, so forgive us if we take a little moment to pause, enjoy a Pimm’s and take in the tennis at the end of this month. Because we might be halfway through the year already, but we’re nowhere near reaching game, set and match on 2021 yet.
