Ding Dong! September 2020

Share Article:

A new season is upon us and, being in Wales, it wouldn’t be October without two weeks’ straight of rainfall being predicted and a 10o drop in temps. So, forgive us as we reminisce back to warmer times, to those heady days of September when the sun was shining and our Zoom calls didn’t include hot water bottles and dressing gowns hidden just out of view – it all seems so long ago.

It’s been a stellar month at Front Door HQ so we’re looking back at some of the highlights from sunny September days gone by! We kicked off the month with a lovely feature for insurance comparison provider ActiveQuote in the Independent on income protection insurance, its necessity and its benefits during a crisis like Covid. Head of Partnerships Rod Jones shared his comments on the huge surge in the number of people looking to take out short-term income protection cover during Covid-19, with overall enquiries surging by as much as 1,100%!

In rather glamorous news, Pontcanna’s fine dining restaurant Thomas by Tom Simmons joined forces with one of Cardiff’s best loved cocktail bars, Lab 22, this month to launch an exclusive cocktail and culinary evening. As featured in Red Handed magazine and Cardiff Life, guests were treated to five hand-crafted cocktails including ‘Toasted Plantain Old Fash’ and ‘This is not a Pina Colada’, which were married with the likes of Tom’s crispy short rib of beef and his much-sought after fish and chips.

We’re over the moon that local businesses like Thomas have been able to ride the wave of Covid-19 and come out dancing, which has also been the case for sealants and repairs business SD who have been promoting a UK-wide recruitment drive. After successfully navigating through these difficult few months, the Caldicot based business is now recruiting for up to 50 new employees to join its sites all over the country, and has had some fantastic coverage in Wales Online, Business Insider, Business News Wales, the Sun and many more.

When it comes to finance Hodge had it covered this month, as new research from the bank showed that under 35s are more likely to ask their friends and family for financial advice than go to a professional. Not only did the financial advisory trade press pick this up, but a further interview with Hodge’s business development manager Emma Graham featured on Yahoo.com. We also helped Hodge announce its new CEO and Group Retail Director and Deputy CEO, see coverage here in FTAdviser and Mortgage Introducer.

And that’s it for us this month – we’re off to sit by the radiators and surround ourselves with mugs of tea. Until next time!
